What a fantastic two day 75th anniversary tournament we have just had. 136 players competed on 3 excellently presented greens with glorious weather and an army of helpers making it a resounding success. Thank you to Mark Walker for the effort put in on making our greens something to be very proud of.
There was an exciting conclusion, with all of the 4 game winners, losing in the fifth and final round. The overall winner was Team Alan Newman from Club Maroochy. Runners up were team Sue Brady from Pelican Waters.
Local club stalwart Bob Schofield’s team finished Third overall. Huge congratulations go to Bob, Tony Brown, Sue Mould and last-minute replacement Margaret McCarthy, standing in for Daphne Reed who went down with Covid over the weekend.
John Spiteri was a member of Peter Nixon’s team that finished in 4th place. Mark Perry and Garry Rodgers won the lucky team prize, along with a Gail and Peter Thow from Tasmania.
Off the greens, a great big thank you to all the volunteers who helped sell raffle tickets and prize boards to the eager crowds of players and spectators alike. Thanks also to the Umpires for ensuring fair play, the competition board updaters and to the livestream commentators
Thank you also to Wayne Pendergast for running the Corner to Corner competition that was held to raise money for charity. Kathy Burgess won the $500 prize with one of the first bowls bowled!!
A big thank you to Jeff Coleman who worked tirelessly to get the entry numbers up and sourcing so many raffle prizes for the raffle.
